John S2 Outfits

Basic Second Season Outfit

John's outfit in the second season is very much like the first season except that his pants are now always light tan instead of grey and in many cases appear almost as light as his shirt - maybe they gradually bleach out in the sun. His shirt, hat, vest, holster, and bandana are all the same.

While he usually wears his vest in the second season, there are a few scenes where he wears the shirt alone. This is clearly the same shirt as the first season. It is less clear that he is wearing his long johns under it, but in "The Deceivers" we get a rare glimpse of John with his shirt fully unbuttoned where we can see his pink underwear. This shirt still doubles for his dress outfit, at dinner and officious occasions where he usually adds his black bow tie.

John's large black gun belt and holster are the same in the second season. He continues to wear it lower than just about any other character and given John's figure, it sometimes looks as though it might not stay up. He is still frequently seen around the house without it, and in "Buffalo Soldiers" he is without it because everyone in Tucson was required to turn in their weapons.

John's vest and bandana also remain unchanged from the first season through the second season. He seems to wear the bandana about half of the time, but usually when he rides somewhere.

John's hat remains the same throughout the second season. The large silver decorations make it a distinctive and imposing hat.

In the second season we only see John in his tan overcoat in one episode that I am aware of. This tan leather coat is very much like the one Buck wears in the fourth season. Both are nearly always worn at night, so it's hard to see it very clearly.

Special Outfits

John has three special outfits in the second season. One is the prison uniform he is dressed in after an escapee steals his clothes in "A Way of Justice". Another is the dark dress coat that he wears to visit Rancho Montoya when everyone believes that Don Sebastian is dying in "The Lion Sleeps". The third outfit is one he takes from a bandido to wear as a disguise to rescue Victoria in "North to Tucson".
