After the
pilot, Buck loses the short black leather vest and appears
in his signature long black epaulet vest that remains his
trademark for the first three seasons. He begins the season wearing a light
colored scarf and light colored belt and holster worn over
the long black vest. Midway in the first season he changes
to a dark colored belt with the same holster.
This new gun belt is worn over his tunic shirt, but not
over the vest. The holster tie downs are usually left
loose. |

The
pinstripe pants of the pilot have been replaced with solid
black pants that remain for the series. He wears
leather gloves most - though certainly not all - of the
time, and they vary from light to dark, but that would
occur naturally since these guys would have gone through a
lot of pairs of gloves.

His scarf shows
up in a variety of knots, sometimes different even in the
same episode, as in "Bad Day for a Thirst" pictured above.
The knot positions also varied, with the scarf sometimes
rolled, sometimes unfolded in front, sometimes unfolded off to one
side, and sometimes untied just hanging loose. He is
only rarely seen without it, and then only when he is
dressed down at the beginning or end of the day.
His hair in
the first season is quite blond. |

The hat has a
blue beaded band, often with a feather in it, that is the same
throughout the first season and part of the second.
Midway through the second season the hat changes to a
different bead band and a slightly smaller brim. The ammo arm band
is a staple throughout the series. The leather wrist
band is present in the first and fourth seasons, but is not apparent
with the long sleeves of the second and third.

His shirt for
the first three seasons is a collarless pullover that
buttons about halfway down. It is a long yoked tunic
shirt, sometimes worn tucked in and sometimes worn outside
his pants.
